Biography
Alister Williamson (1918–1999) was an Australian-born character actor who appeared in numerous British films and television series during the 1960s and 1970s. He was frequently cast as gruff police inspectors, henchmen or supporting characters in adventure series, police dramas and horror films.
His film credits include Saturday Night and Sunday Morning (1960) as a policeman, The Curse of the Werewolf (1961), The Gorgon (1964), The Oblong Box (1969) in which he played the lead role of Sir Edward Markham, Battle of Britain (1969) and The Abominable Dr. Phibes (1971). On television he appeared in series such as The Avengers (1961), Dad's Army (1968) and various sitcoms.
