Biography
Allan Carr (born Allan Solomon) was an American film and theatre producer and talent manager. Born in Chicago on 27 May 1937, he attended Northwestern University before working in publicity and management. He represented clients including Ann-Margret, Peter Sellers and Olivia Newton-John.
Carr co-produced the 1978 musical film Grease, which became one of the highest-grossing films of its time. He also produced Can't Stop the Music (1980), Grease 2 (1982) and Cloak & Dagger (1984). On Broadway he produced the Tony Award-winning musical La Cage aux Folles (1983). He died in Beverly Hills on 29 June 1999.
