Biography
Allen Guilford was a New Zealand cinematographer. He worked on early New Zealand television drama and feature films, including the TV movie The God Boy (1976) and the feature Trial Run (1984).
Guilford served as director of photography on episodes of the series Xena: Warrior Princess (1995) from 1996 to 2000. His feature credits include The Footstep Man (1992), What Becomes of the Broken Hearted? (1999), The Legend of Johnny Lingo (2003) and Riverworld (2003). He also worked as director of photography on the second unit for The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001), The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002) and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003).
He won New Zealand Film Awards for cinematography on The Footstep Man, The Climb (1997) and What Becomes of the Broken Hearted?. Guilford died on 10 March 2009.
