Biography

Alma Pöysti is a Finnish actress. Born on 16 March 1981 in Helsinki, she is a Swedish-speaking Finn who has also worked in Sweden.

She graduated from the Theatre Academy of Helsinki in 2007. She began her career on stage at the Swedish Theatre in Helsinki and the Finnish National Theatre.

Pöysti is known for playing Tove Jansson in Tove (2020), for which she won a Jussi Award for Best Leading Actress, and Ansa in Fallen Leaves (2023). She won a second Jussi Award for Four Little Adults (2023) and received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for Fallen Leaves. She is the daughter of director Erik Pöysti and granddaughter of actors Lasse Pöysti and Birgitta Ulfsson.
