Biography

Alonso Ruizpalacios is a Mexican film director and screenwriter. He was born on 11 September 1978 in Mexico City and studied stage directing there before training as an actor at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London.

Ruizpalacios is known for his feature films Güeros (2014), Museo (2018), A Cop Movie (2021) and La Cocina (2024). Güeros won five Ariel Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director. Museo received the Silver Bear for Best Screenplay at the Berlin International Film Festival. He has also directed episodes of the television series Narcos: Mexico (2018), Outer Range (2022) and Andor (2022).

His short film Café Paraíso won awards on the festival circuit, and he directed the music video for "Hasta la Raíz" by Natalia Lafourcade.
