Biography
Amanda Coe is an English screenwriter and novelist. Born in Yorkshire in 1965, she studied English at the University of Oxford and trained in screenwriting at the National Film and Television School.
Her television credits include episodes of Shameless (2005–2007), As If, Life in Squares (2015), the adaptation Apple Tree Yard (2017), The Trial of Christine Keeler (2019–2020) and Black Narcissus (2020). She wrote the BBC Four films Filth: The Mary Whitehouse Story (2008) and Margot (2009), and the adaptation Room at the Top (2012), for which she won a BAFTA. She contributed to the story of The New Look (2024). Coe has also published novels including What They Do in the Dark (2011) and Getting Colder (2014).
