Biography
Ambrosine Phillpotts (13 September 1912 – 12 October 1980) was a British actress of stage, film, television and radio. She trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and made her stage debut in 1930. Her screen career began in the mid-1940s and continued until 1980.
She is known for roles including Mrs Brown in Room at the Top (1958) and its sequel Life at the Top (1965), Mrs Millington-Drake in The Battle of the River Plate (1956), the Aristocratic Lady in Carry On Cabby (1963), Yoki's Owner in Carry On Regardless (1961), Miss Burrows in Berserk! (1967) and Miss Grey in The Reluctant Debutante (1958). She frequently played upper-class or eccentric characters on stage and screen.
