Biography
Amy Liptrot is a Scottish journalist and author. She grew up on a farm in Orkney and studied at the University of Edinburgh. After a decade in London, she returned to Orkney, where her experiences informed her debut memoir The Outrun (2016).
The book won the Wainwright Prize in 2016 and the PEN Ackerley Prize in 2017, and was shortlisted for the Wellcome Prize and the Ondaatje Prize. Liptrot co-wrote the screenplay for the 2024 film adaptation of The Outrun with director Nora Fingscheidt. Her second book, The Instant, was published in 2022.
