Biography
Ana Ofelia Murguía (8 December 1933 – 31 December 2023) was a Mexican actress. She was born and died in Mexico City.
She studied at the National School of Theater Arts and made her stage debut in 1954. Over a career of more than five decades she appeared in dozens of films and plays, working with directors including Arturo Ripstein and Felipe Cazals.
Murguía received three Ariel Awards for Best Supporting Actress, for Cadena Perpetua (1979), Los Motivos de Luz (1986) and La Reina de la Noche (1994), and an Ariel de Oro for lifetime achievement in 2011. She voiced Mamá Coco in the Pixar film Coco (2017), her final screen role.
