Biography
Anaïs Romand is a French costume designer. She trained in the restoration of works of art in Rome from 1976 to 1979, then worked as an assistant to costume and set designers Ezio Frigerio and Franca Squarciapino on theatre and opera productions in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
She began designing costumes for film in the early 1990s, with early credits including Les Derniers jours d’Emmanuel Kant (1994). Romand has worked on films by directors including Olivier Assayas, Bertrand Bonello and Leos Carax. Her credits include Summer Hours (2008), House of Pleasures (2011), Holy Motors (2012), Saint Laurent (2014), The Dancer (2016), Nocturama (2016) and De Gaulle (2020).
She has received three César Awards for best costumes, for House of Pleasures (2012), Saint Laurent (2015) and The Dancer (2017).
