Biography
André René Roussimoff, known professionally as André the Giant, was a French professional wrestler and actor. Born on 19 May 1946 in Coulommiers, France, he began wrestling in 1966 under names including Jean Ferré before moving to North America in 1971.
He gained prominence in the World Wide Wrestling Federation and other promotions, appearing in events such as WrestleMania. Roussimoff's acting credits include the role of Fezzik in the film The Princess Bride (1987), as well as appearances in Conan the Destroyer (1984) and episodes of The Six Million Dollar Man (1974).
He died on 27 January 1993 in Paris, France.
