Biography
Andrea Martin is an American-Canadian actress, comedian and singer. Born on 15 January 1947 in Portland, Maine, she began her career in improvisational comedy with Toronto's Second City and gained prominence as a performer and writer on the Canadian sketch series SCTV (1976–1984).
Martin has received two Primetime Emmy Awards for writing on SCTV. On Broadway she won Tony Awards for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for My Favorite Year (1992) and the 2013 revival of Pippin, and holds the record for the most nominations in that category. She has appeared in productions including Candide, Oklahoma!, Young Frankenstein and Noises Off.
Her film roles include Liz Butsky in Wag the Dog (1997) and Aunt Voula in My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002) and its sequels. She has provided voices for animated films such as Anastasia (1997) and series including The Simpsons. Martin was inducted into Canada's Walk of Fame in 2018.
