Biography
Andrea Newman is a television writer and producer. She began her career as a playwright in New York before moving into television, with early credits including script coordinator on Spin City (1997) and writer on Felicity (1998–2002).
Newman wrote two episodes of 24 (2002) and served as a producer on the series during its first season. She later wrote for Ed (2000), Cold Case (2005–2006), Point Pleasant (2005), Private Practice (2007), Human Target (2010–2011) and The Secret Circle (2011–2012).
Newman joined Chicago Fire in 2012 as a writer and co-executive producer. She rose to executive producer and served as showrunner for several seasons until stepping down after the fourteenth season in 2026. She also wrote episodes of the spin-off 24: India (2013).
