Biography
Andreas Prochaska is an Austrian film director, screenwriter and editor. He was born on 31 December 1964 in Vienna and grew up in Bad Ischl. After dropping out of studies in journalism and theatre studies, he began working in the film industry in 1985 as an assistant to director Paulus Manker and gained experience in sound, production, directing and editing on film and television productions.
Prochaska worked as an editing assistant on Michael Haneke’s Benny’s Video (1992) and 71 Fragments of a Chronology of Chance (1994), before serving as editor on The Castle (1997), Funny Games (1997) and Code Unknown (2000). He made his directorial debut in 1998 with the children’s film Die 3 Posträuber. His later features include the horror film Dead in 3 Days (2006) and the Western The Dark Valley (2014). He has also directed television series and miniseries such as Das Boot (2018) and Alex Rider (2020).
