Biography
Andrew Armour was a Scottish character actor. Born Andrew Wilson Armour in Glasgow in 1924, he trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art after earlier work as a Hollywood showbiz reporter and theatre publicist. He appeared under the name Richard Armour in numerous British television series during the 1960s and 1970s, including a role as Jack Cardigan in the original BBC adaptation of The Forsyte Saga (1967).
Armour's acting career resumed in later years under his own name. He played Alfred in the award-winning film Red Road (2006), a Scottish detective in New Tricks (2003), a Nazi war criminal in Waking the Dead (2007) and Burleigh, the butler, in The Duchess (2008). He died in London in 2008.
