Biography

Andrew Lloyd Webber is an English composer and impresario of musical theatre. He was born on 22 March 1948 in London.

He composed the scores for stage musicals including Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (1968), Jesus Christ Superstar (1970), Evita (1976), Cats (1981) and The Phantom of the Opera (1986). His film work includes the music for Cats (2019) and earlier scores such as The Odessa File (1974).

Lloyd Webber was knighted in 1992 and created a life peer as Baron Lloyd-Webber in 1997. He has received seven Tony Awards, three Grammy Awards, an Academy Award, seven Olivier Awards and other honours including the Kennedy Center Honors in 2006.
