Biography
Andy Devine, born Peter Devine, was an English actor known for television roles. He was born on 28 February 1942 in Manchester and died on 27 January 2022 in Southport, aged 79.
Devine began his acting career in 1963 after serving in the Royal Navy. He appeared in minor roles in series including Doctor Who, Cracker and Prime Suspect, and had guest parts in Coronation Street as a photographer and as Jason Ross.
His most prominent roles were Bernard Thomas in the Channel 4 series Queer as Folk (1999–2000) and Shadrach Dingle in the ITV soap Emmerdale (2000–2010), appearing in 645 episodes until the character’s exit.
