Biography
Anika Noni Rose is an American actress and singer. She was born on 6 September 1972 in Bloomfield, Connecticut. She earned a bachelor's degree in theatre from Florida A&M University and studied drama at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco.
Rose won the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her performance as Emmie Thibodeaux in the Broadway production of Caroline, or Change (2004). She starred as Lorrell Robinson in the film Dreamgirls (2006), for which her contribution to the soundtrack earned a Grammy Award nomination. She received a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Play for her role in the 2014 Broadway revival of A Raisin in the Sun.
She is known for voicing Tiana in Disney's The Princess and the Frog (2009) and reprised the role in Ralph Breaks the Internet (2018). Rose was named a Disney Legend in 2011.
