Biography
Ann Ayars was an American actress and soprano, also credited as Anne Ayars. She appeared in several non-musical films in the early 1940s, including as Mrs Sandoval in The Human Comedy (1943).
In 1943 she left Hollywood to join the New York City Opera, where she performed as a leading lyric soprano. Her roles included Monica in The Medium, Mimi in La bohème and Violetta in La traviata. She sang and acted the part of Antonia in the 1951 film The Tales of Hoffmann.
From 1968 to 1987 Ayars taught voice and piano at Mt. San Jacinto College in California. She staged 19 full-length opera productions there and was later made professor emerita.
