Biography
Ann Dere (1868–1954) was an American actress. She appeared in numerous Broadway productions between 1929 and 1956, including roles in A Streetcar Named Desire (1947) as A Strange Woman, Paths of Glory (1935), Wallflower (1944) and Too Late the Phalarope (1956).
Her film work was limited. She played The Matron in the 1951 screen adaptation of A Streetcar Named Desire directed by Elia Kazan. She also appeared in several television anthology series in the early 1950s, such as Lux Video Theatre and Robert Montgomery Presents, and provided narration for short films.
