Biography
Ann Reinking was an American dancer, actress, choreographer and singer. She began ballet training as a child in Seattle and moved to New York at 18, joining the Radio City Music Hall corps de ballet. Her Broadway debut came in the ensemble of Cabaret (1969).
Reinking became closely associated with choreographer Bob Fosse, appearing in Pippin (1972), replacing Gwen Verdon as Roxie Hart in Chicago (1977) and starring in Dancin' (1978). On screen she played Kate Jagger in Fosse’s All That Jazz (1979), Grace Farrell in Annie (1982) and Micki Salinger in Micki & Maude (1984). She later choreographed and reprised Roxie Hart in the 1996 Broadway revival of Chicago, winning the Tony Award for Best Choreography, and received the Olivier Award for choreographing Fosse in the West End.
