Biography
Anna Karina (born Hanne Karin Bayer) was a Danish-French actress. She appeared in seven films directed by Jean-Luc Godard, including Vivre sa vie (1962) as Nana Kleinfrankenheim, Alphaville (1965) as Natacha von Braun and Pierrot le Fou (1965) as Marianne Renoir.
Born on 22 September 1940 in Solbjerg, Denmark, she moved to Paris at the age of 17. She won the Silver Bear for Best Actress at the 1961 Berlin International Film Festival for her role in Godard’s A Woman Is a Woman. She later directed two feature films, Vivre ensemble (1973) and Victoria (2008), and worked as a singer and novelist. She died in Paris on 14 December 2019.
