Biography
Anne D. Bernstein was an American animation writer, story editor and illustrator. She studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York, graduating with a BFA in 1983, and began her career in print as a contributing editor to magazines including Paper, Spy and National Lampoon. She later became founding senior editor and comics editor of Nickelodeon Magazine.
Bernstein moved into television animation in the 1990s. She wrote eight episodes of the MTV series Daria (1997–2002) across all five seasons, contributed material to the show's website and wrote the companion book The Daria Diaries. She also served as head writer for MTV Animation Development and for the series Downtown (1999). Her other credits include episodes of The Backyardigans, Tutenstein and Codename: Kids Next Door.
She died in New York City on 8 February 2022.
