Biography

Anne Nikitin is a Canadian composer for film and television. Born in Canada to Romanian and Polish parents, she grew up in several countries including South Africa, Taiwan, New Zealand and the Netherlands. She studied English literature and music composition at McGill University in Montreal, where she received a SOCAN prize for young composers, and completed a master’s degree in composition for screen at the Royal College of Music in London.

In 2006 she won the BBC New Talent New TV Composers scheme, leading to commissions for major broadcasters. Her film scores include Bart Layton’s The Imposter (2012) and American Animals (2018). She created an all-electronic synth score for the Hulu series The Dropout (2022) and has also composed for Calibre (2018), Lost Girls (2020), Hijack (2023) and Mothers’ Instinct (2024).

Nikitin is Emmy-nominated and has received Ivor Novello and British Independent Film Award nominations.
