Biography
Anny Romand is a French actress. Born in Paris in 1950, she grew up in Marseille and studied psychology at the University of Aix-en-Provence before training as an actor. Her screen career began in the late 1970s with television roles, followed by her film debut in Jean-Jacques Beineix's Diva (1981), in which she played Paula.
She has appeared in films by Manoel de Oliveira, including Le Soulier de satin (1985) and La Lettre (1999), Jean-Luc Godard's Hélas pour moi (1993) as the shepherd's wife, and Fabienne Berthaud's Lily Sometimes (2010) as Françoise Dreyer. Romand has also worked extensively in theatre, performed in opera as the narrator in Stravinsky's Perséphone, and published novels from 2015 onwards. Since 2006 she has directed the literary event Une Saison de Nobel.
