Biography
Anthony Neilson is a Scottish playwright, theatre director and screenwriter. Born in Edinburgh in 1967, he studied at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama before being expelled for insubordination. He won a BBC young writers' competition, which launched his writing career.
Neilson is known for his plays, including Normal (1991) and The Censor (1997), and has been associated with in-yer-face theatre, though he describes his work as experimental. He wrote an episode of the BBC series Spooks (2002) and wrote and directed the feature film The Debt Collector (1999), which won the Fipresci International Critics' Award.
