Biography
Antoine Duhamel was a French composer known for his film scores. Born on 30 July 1925 in Valmondois, he studied at the Paris Conservatoire with Olivier Messiaen and privately with René Leibowitz. He began composing for advertising and television before entering feature films.
His early film work included the scores for Jean-Daniel Pollet’s Méditerranée (1963), Jean-Luc Godard’s Pierrot le Fou (1965) and Weekend (1967). He went on to collaborate with François Truffaut on several films, including Stolen Kisses (1968), Mississippi Mermaid (1969), Bed and Board (1970) and The Wild Child (1970). Duhamel also wrote for Bertrand Tavernier and Patrice Leconte, and composed operas and concert works throughout his career.
He died in Paris on 11 September 2014.
