Biography
Anton Sanko is an American composer, orchestrator and music producer. Born in New York City on 4 July 1960, he studied music theory and composition at New York University and took guitar lessons with Ralph Towner. He began his career in the mid-1980s as a keyboardist and guitarist for Suzanne Vega, later producing and writing for her albums Solitude Standing (1987) and Days of Open Hand (1990).
Sanko has composed for film and television since 1991, when he scored the HBO television film Women & Men 2. His film credits include Rabbit Hole (2010), The Possession (2012), Nurse 3-D (2013), Ouija (2014), Jessabelle (2014), Fractured (2019) and The Half of It (2020). He has also scored series such as Big Love and documentaries including Great Migrations (2010).
Sanko won a BMI Cable Award for Big Love and a News & Documentary Emmy Award for Great Migrations. He has received César Award nominations for Amanda (2018) and The Passengers of the Night (2022), and his score for Rabbit Hole appeared on the Academy Award shortlist for Best Original Score.
