Biography
Antonio Scurati is an Italian writer, academic and journalist. Born on 25 June 1969 in Naples, he grew up between Venice and Ravello and lives in Milan. He holds a degree in philosophy from the University of Milan and a doctorate from the University of Bergamo, and has studied at the École des hautes études en sciences sociales in Paris.
Scurati is a professor of comparative literature and creative writing at IULM University of Milan, where he co-directs the Master in Arti del Racconto, and an editorialist for Corriere della Sera. He is best known for the M pentalogy of documentary novels about Benito Mussolini and the rise of Italian fascism. The first volume, M: Son of the Century (2018), won the Strega Prize in 2019 and was adapted into the television series Mussolini: Son of the Century (2024). The series has been translated into more than forty languages.
