Biography
Antony Holland (also credited as Anthony Holland, Antony Rolland and A.E. Holland) was an English actor, playwright and theatre director. Born on 28 March 1920 in Tiverton, Devon, he trained at the Labour Stage in London. He served in the British Army during the Second World War, where he produced and performed in shows for troops, and later worked as vice-principal at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.
Holland moved to Vancouver in 1957. He founded a theatre arts programme at Vancouver Community College that became Studio 58, serving as its artistic director until 1985. He continued to act in film and television, appearing as Hollander in McCabe & Mrs. Miller (1971), the plea bargain lawyer in The Accused (1988), the doctor in We're No Angels (1989), and Dr Irvin Thatcher in Eureka (2006). He also had recurring television roles in series including MacGyver and Battlestar Galactica. Holland died on 29 July 2015 in Nanaimo, British Columbia.
