Biography
Armando Brancia (9 September 1917 – 20 June 1997) was an Italian film and television actor. Born in Naples, he began his acting career at a mature age with minor roles in several RAI television series.
His breakthrough came in 1973 as Aurelio Biondi, the father of the protagonist, in Federico Fellini's Amarcord. Following the film's success, Brancia worked extensively as a character actor in Italian cinema, appearing in films directed by Luigi Comencini, Nanni Loy and Franco Brusati, among others. Notable roles include the police chief in The Cat (1977), Cardinal Libotte in Cream Horn (1981) and Bertolazzi in Grand Hotel Excelsior (1982). He retired in the second half of the 1980s.
