Biography
Arnold Laven (1922–2009) was an American film and television director and producer. He co-founded the production company Levy-Gardner-Laven in 1951 with Jules V. Levy and Arthur Gardner, after the three met while serving in the First Motion Picture Unit during the Second World War.
Laven produced the long-running western series The Rifleman (1958–1963) and The Big Valley (1965–1969). He directed feature films including Without Warning! (1952), The Rack (1956), The Monster That Challenged the World (1957), Geronimo (1962) and Sam Whiskey (1969). In the 1970s and 1980s he directed dozens of television episodes, among them two of The Rockford Files (1974), as well as episodes of Mannix, The Six Million Dollar Man, CHiPs, Hill Street Blues and The A-Team.
