Biography

Arthur Allan Seidelman is an American television, film and theatre director. Born in 1937 in New York City, he received a B.A. from Whittier College and an M.A. in theatre from UCLA, and studied with Sanford Meisner.

He directed episodes of series including Hill Street Blues (1981), Murder, She Wrote (1984), Magnum, P.I. (1980), L.A. Law (1986) and Knots Landing (1979). His feature films include Hercules in New York (1970), The Sisters (2005) and Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks (2014). He has also directed numerous television films, among them A Christmas Carol (2004).

Seidelman has received two Daytime Emmy Awards for direction of ABC Afterschool Specials, a Writers Guild of America Award for the 1982 special I Love Liberty, and other awards including Christopher Awards and a Humanitas Prize. His theatre credits include Broadway productions of Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks (2003) and Vieux Carré (1977).
