Biography
Arthur Heinemann was a television writer. Born on 17 June 1910 in Veladena, Mexico, he graduated from Princeton University and began his career as a freelance writer of short stories published in magazines including Boys’ Life, Collier’s and McCall’s. He later worked in the story departments of Paramount and CBS Television, and served as a story editor and producer on The United States Steel Hour.
Heinemann wrote episodes for numerous series, including three for Star Trek (1966) in its third season: the teleplay for “Wink of an Eye”, the teleplay for “The Savage Curtain” (with Gene Roddenberry) and the story and teleplay for “The Way to Eden” (with Michael Richards). He contributed scripts to Little House on the Prairie, Cannon, Bonanza, Lucas Tanner and other programmes, as well as television films. He won a Daytime Emmy Award and a Writers Guild of America Award for the ABC Afterschool Special “The Woman Who Willed a Miracle”. Heinemann died on 22 September 1987 in Santa Monica, California.
