Biography
Arthur Kober (1900–1975) was an American screenwriter, playwright, humorist and press agent. Born in Brody, Galicia (then part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire), he emigrated with his family to New York as a child and later worked as a theatrical press agent before turning to writing.
He contributed humorous short stories to The New Yorker from 1926 onwards and wrote the Broadway play Having Wonderful Time (1937). In Hollywood he worked on around thirty films in the 1930s and 1940s, including the screenplay for Me and My Gal (1932) and additional scenes and dialogue for The Little Foxes (1941). He was married to the playwright Lillian Hellman from 1925 until their divorce in 1932.
