Biography
Audrey Fildes (1922–1997) was a British actress. Her first film credit was as Olwen in While I Live (1947). She played Mama, the mother of the protagonist, in the Ealing comedy Kind Hearts and Coronets (1949).
On stage she appeared as Sonia in a 1946 production of Crime and Punishment directed by Anthony Quayle and starring John Gielgud, and as Diana in Jean Anouilh's Ring Round the Moon (1950), directed by Peter Brook and co-starring Paul Scofield. She also appeared in the short film Designing Women (1947) and in two 1953 television productions.
Fildes was the granddaughter of painter Luke Fildes and sculptor Goscombe John, and the daughter of fencer Luke Val Fildes. She trained as a gilder and restorer in the early 1970s and later lived in Toronto.
