Biography
Babette Mangolte is a French cinematographer, filmmaker and photographer. She trained at the École nationale supérieure Louis-Lumière in Paris and moved to New York in 1970, where she has lived and worked since.
She is best known for her collaborations with Chantal Akerman, serving as director of photography on La Chambre (1972), Hôtel Monterey (1972), Jeanne Dielman, 23, quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles (1975) and News from Home (1976). She has also worked with Yvonne Rainer on Lives of Performers (1972) and Film About a Woman Who… (1974), and with other artists including Michael Snow and Sally Potter.
