Biography
Babirye Bukilwa is a British actor, poet and playwright. They trained with a BTEC in Acting at Westminster Kingsway College and began their career in theatre, appearing in productions including debbie tucker green’s truth and reconciliation at the Royal Court (2011), random (Channel 4), Beautiful Thing at Leicester Curve and When We Have Sufficiently Tortured Each Other at the National Theatre.
On screen, Bukilwa is known for playing DC Dominique Parkes in We Hunt Together (2020–2022), Vanessa in Dreaming Whilst Black (pilot 2021; series 2023–2025) and Sammie in Domino Day (2024). They have also appeared in Grace and earlier short films and series, often credited as Vanessa Babirye before adopting their current name.
