Biography
Barbara Loden (1932–1980) was an American actress and director. She appeared in films including Wild River (1960) and Splendor in the Grass (1961), both directed by Elia Kazan, whom she later married. She won a Tony Award for her performance in the 1964 Broadway production of After the Fall.
In 1970 Loden wrote, directed and starred in the independent film Wanda, which won the International Critics Award at the Venice Film Festival. She directed two short films in the mid-1970s and continued stage work.
