Biography
Barbara Stepansky is a writer, director and producer. Born in Poland, she moved with her family to Germany following her father's involvement in the Solidarity movement. She holds a degree in philosophy of science from University College London and completed further studies at the USC School of Cinematic Arts and the American Film Institute.
She has written episodes of the series Outlander (2014), including work as story editor and co-producer, and has served as second unit director on the show. Other writing credits include the television film Flint (2017) and episodes of Woman of the Dead (2022). She has also directed feature films and short films.
Stepansky received a Nicholl Fellowship for her screenplay Sugar in My Veins and a Writers Guild of America Award for Flint.
