Biography
Barney Slater (1923–1978) was an American screenwriter and television writer. Born in Gastonia, North Carolina, he contributed stories and teleplays to feature films and numerous television series from the 1950s to the 1970s.
His film credits include the story for The Tin Star (1957), for which he received a shared Academy Award nomination, and stories for Three Violent People (1956) and Cahill: United States Marshal (1973). On television he wrote episodes of Lost in Space (1965–1968), Mission: Impossible (1966), The Time Tunnel (1966), Columbo (1971) and CHiPs (1977). He died in Los Angeles following a hit-and-run accident.
