Biography

Barrie Chase is an American actress and dancer. Born on 20 October 1933 in Kings Point, New York, she trained in ballet from the age of three and later worked as an assistant choreographer to Jack Cole at MGM.

She appeared in the chorus of numerous Hollywood musicals in the 1950s, including White Christmas (1954), Brigadoon (1954) and Daddy Long Legs (1955). Chase gained prominence as Fred Astaire's dancing partner in his television specials, beginning with An Evening with Fred Astaire (1958).

Her acting credits include Diane Taylor in Cape Fear (1962), a role in It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963) and Farida in The Flight of the Phoenix (1965). She is the daughter of screenwriter Borden Chase and the sister of actor and screenwriter Frank Chase.
