Biography

Barry Cook is an American film director and animator. Born in Nashville, Tennessee, he began making films as a child and interned at Hanna-Barbera before joining Walt Disney Feature Animation in 1981. He contributed to visual effects on films including Tron (1982), The Black Cauldron (1985), Oliver & Company (1988), The Little Mermaid (1989), Beauty and the Beast (1991) and Aladdin (1992).

Cook directed the short films Off His Rockers (1992) and Trail Mix-Up (1993). He co-directed the animated feature Mulan (1998) with Tony Bancroft, for which they received the Annie Award for Best Animated Feature. He later co-directed Arthur Christmas (2011) and directed Walking with Dinosaurs (2013) with Neil Nightingale.
