Biography
Barry Cryer was an English comedian, actor and writer. Born in Leeds, he began performing in variety theatre in the mid-1950s before moving into writing and panel-show work.
He appeared as an actor in Monty Python's Flying Circus (1969) and in films including Bloodbath at the House of Death (1984). Cryer wrote extensively for performers such as Morecambe and Wise, the Two Ronnies and Kenny Everett, and was a long-serving panellist on the radio series I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue from 1972. He received an OBE in 2001.
