Biography
Barry Fanaro is an American screenwriter and television producer. He graduated magna cum laude from Mercer University and holds an MFA from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. In the early 1980s he performed with the Groundlings improv group.
Fanaro wrote and produced more than 250 episodes of network television. He is best known for his work on The Golden Girls (1985–1989), where he served as writer, producer, supervising producer, co-executive producer and executive script consultant across its first four seasons. He shared two Primetime Emmy Awards for the series, won a Writers Guild of America Award, and received three Golden Globes.
In the 1990s Fanaro moved into feature films. His screenwriting credits include Kingpin (1996), Men in Black II (2002) and I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry (2007). He has also worked as a script doctor on films such as Analyze This and Big Trouble.
