Biography

Barry Hanson (also credited as Barry Anthony Hanson) was a British television and film producer. Born on 10 August 1943 in Bradford, West Yorkshire, he read English at Newcastle University and began his career in theatre publicity at Harrogate Theatre and the Royal Court Theatre, London, before moving into television production.

He produced the series Second City Firsts (1973–74) at BBC Pebble Mill and the television film The Naked Civil Servant (1975) for ITV. At Thames Television he produced The Long Good Friday (1980), which he helped secure a cinema release after its original backers withdrew. Other credits include Morons from Outer Space (1985). Hanson died on 20 June 2016.
