Biography
Bazel Collins, also credited as Basil Collins, was an American mine foreman and World War II veteran from Harlan County, Kentucky. Born on 24 January 1917, he worked for the Eastover Mining Company during the 1973–1974 Brookside coal miners' strike against Duke Power.
Collins appears in the 1976 documentary Harlan County U.S.A., directed by Barbara Kopple, as Self - Mine Foreman. The Academy Award-winning film documents the strike, in which Collins was involved in confrontations with striking miners and their supporters while escorting replacement workers. He died on 17 December 1980 in Harlan County.
