Biography
Beatrice Vitoldi (15 December 1895 – November 1939) was an Italian-born Soviet actress and diplomat. Born in Salerno, she moved with her family to Riga at the age of five and later to Saint Petersburg. She participated in the October Revolution of 1917 and worked as a secretary for the Proletkult organisation.
Vitoldi’s only film role was as the woman with the baby carriage in Sergei Eisenstein’s Battleship Potemkin (1925). The film brought her recognition in the Soviet Union. In 1931 she became a Soviet attaché in Italy, serving until 1937, when she was recalled to Moscow, arrested during the Great Purge and executed.
