Biography
Ben Bartlett (17 March 1965 – 19 April 2026) was a British composer. Educated in London at Westminster City grammar school and Pimlico Comprehensive Special Music School, he later studied composition at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where he won the Lutosławski prize for composition.
Bartlett first came to prominence with his score for the BBC series Walking with Dinosaurs (1999), for which he won a British Academy Television Craft Award in 2000 and was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award. He composed music for the related series Walking with Beasts (2001) and Walking with Monsters (2005). His other notable work includes the ITV crime drama Vera (2011–2025), Stan Lee's Lucky Man (2016–2018), The Loch (2017) and The Tunnel (2016–2018). He received further award nominations, including an Ivor Novello nomination for Fiona's Story and several Royal Television Society nominations.
