Biography
Ben Schiffer is a British television screenwriter and playwright. Born in Amsterdam in 1983, he moved to London at the age of two and was educated at University College School and Trinity College Dublin, where he graduated with a First-Class Honours B.A. in English and History in 2006.
His early television credits include an episode of Brief Encounters (2006) and Spooks: Code 9 (2008). He wrote five episodes of the Channel 4 series Skins across its first four series (2007–2010) and received a story credit on the 2011 US adaptation. In 2013 he wrote two episodes of Dates, which he also co-executive produced.
Schiffer has contributed episodes to Stan Lee's Lucky Man (2016), Ransom (2017, on which he also served as co-producer), Young Wallander (2020) and Intergalactic (2021). He created and served as showrunner on The Turkish Detective (2023). He has also written for the stage and was selected for the Royal Court Theatre's Young Writers Scheme.
